Hi everyone, welcome back.

For about 2 months, we've had 'Christmas Tree Day' *inserts Christmas tree emoji* saved in our shared calendar on our iPhones. Sounds totally insane, but it was the best day in December where we both were off work and had time to go get a real Christmas tree. We planned to get our tree, go Christmas shopping and decorate our tree all in one day. Who knew it would be so hard to find the perfect tree?

Meldon Park, Morpeth in Northumberland was Rob's choice to go pick a tree after several nights googling for the best priced, yet best quality in Northumberland at £27 for a 6ft tree thats a pretty amazing quality, we couldn't beat it. With saw in hand (given by the park keepers on site), we trotted off to find our tree. Now, although there were hundreds of trees to pick from, it was important that we found a tree full enough yet the right height and width to fit in our living room, it had to be extra special for our first tree for our first Christmas together in our new home.

Advice: measure the space your placing your tree prior to buying, both height and width. You don't want to be stuck with a tree too high or wide for your living space. We however did not measure the width of the area we have place our tree and our tree is slightly on the larger side. We don't mind as it is so full and flourished. Take a tape measure with you too so you can measure your desired tree as guess work is room for disaster. I spotted so many lovely tree which were easily 7/8ft which I never realised until we actually measured them...almost an epic festive fail.

Within this park, you saw your own tree down. So be well prepared, wrap up warm, wear your wellies as it is muddy and wear gloves as the tree pines are spikier than expected. Depending on the tree bark, sawing can be a tedious task so be prepared for some heavy work. Overall, we loved our experience here picking our own tree and sawing it down ourselves. Its a fantastic trip out, lovely for a fresh morning with your loved one or ones.

Boring side note ; there is parking on site and good local sign posting en route to the park. Plus, saws and packaging of the tree is free of charge.

Below are some more very scenic images I took of the park and our fully dressed tree, I hope you all have a truly lovely December  :)

Love Sam x
